BI Group to Invest 800 Million Tenge in Tourism Development in Katon-Karagay

A large-scale infrastructure modernization of one of the region's most picturesque areas is underway in East Kazakhstan. Akim of the East Kazakhstan Region Nurymbet Saktaganov discussed the development prospects of the Katon-Karagay District and the launch of new investment projects during a meeting with representatives of BI Group.

The company is considering several major initiatives. Among the key projects is the creation of a modern digital and multimedia museum and exposition complex in Berel. In the first stage, the investor is ready to invest around 800 million tenge, with the launch of the new facility scheduled for 2027.

During the meeting, the participants also addressed infrastructure development for popular and promising tourist routes. This includes creating observation decks, recreation areas, and equipping hiking, horse-riding, and driving trails, including routes to Karakol Lake and Mount Muztau. Additionally, the parties discussed hosting an ethno-festival in the district to introduce guests to the culture and traditions of East Kazakhstan.

As Nurymbet Saktaganov noted, given the growing interest in the region and the upcoming launch of the local airport—which will significantly improve transport accessibility—it is essential to create comfortable conditions for travelers. The head of the region instructed to thoroughly review the investor's proposals and determine specific areas of cooperation to turn Katon-Karagay’s natural and historical potential into real projects.
